Ujjain: COVID-19 suspect dies as hospital staff fails to find ICU key

A 55-year-old woman, suspected of having Coronavirus, in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain died as the hospital staff could not find the keys to the ICU.

In a bizarre yet unfortunate incident, a 55-year-old woman, suspected of having Coronavirus, in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain died as the staff at a private hospital, where she was being shifted, could not find the keys to the ICU.

As per a report in NDTV, on Thursday the woman was admitted at the district as she complained of breathing and had high blood pressure. Later, as her condition worsened, she was shifted to a hospital meant for COVID-19 patients. Her swap samples were also taken for the Coronavirus test.

Later, as per officials, the woman was taken to RD Gardi Medical College and Hospital. As the woman lay in ambulance outside the hospital, it was found the ICU was locked and concerned hospital staff was not present.

Even as some people tried the break the lock of the ICU, the woman’s condition worsened and she ultimately lost her life. Ujjain Cheif Medical Officer Anusuya Gavli informed that a probe has is being conducted in the matter.

The report of COVID-19 test of the woman is still awaited.
