Currently lodged in Nagpur Central Jail, Bombay HC confirms life sentence to gangster Arun Gawli

The Bombay High Court on Monday confirmed life imprisonment to gangster and former MLA Arun Gawli for the murder of Shiv Sena municipal corporator.

The Bombay High Court on Monday confirmed life imprisonment to gangster and former MLA Arun Gawli under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) by a trial court in 2012 for the murder of Shiv Sena municipal corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar.

In 2012, a special trial court had convicted Gawli for the murder. Since his arrest in 2008, Gawli has been lodged in Nagpur Central Jail.

A division bench that comprised Justice BP Dharmadhikari and Justice Swapna Joshi pronounced the judgment that also included some other associates who were involved in the crime.

In March 2008, Gawli had sent members of his gang who barged into the corporator’s house and kill him.
