Taking a step towards doing their bit for the cause of women empowerment and to give wives and to-be wives a chance to display their creative side, Nagpur entrepreneurs Priyam Daga and Soraiya Taneja started a closed facebook group (only for women) by the name of ‘Connecting Wives’ eight months back. In a span of just eight months, more than 60,000 women across India and overseas have joined this group! This unique group provides a platform to its members to promote and advertise their businesses and even discuss their personal problems with other wives on the group.
From the virtual world to real!
Recently, to give the members of ‘Connecting Wives’ an offline platform to support their businesses, Priyam and Soraiya organised ‘The CW Show’, a fashion and lifestyle exhibition, at Chitnavis Centre, Nagpur. The show consisted of an offline market with several members of the group (from different parts of India) promoting their businesses by putting up stalls of women apparels, accessories, footwear, and other items related to women and kids. The show took place on October 1, 2016 and October 2, 2016 between 11am to 8:30pm.
Explaining the intention behind organizing the show, Priyam Daga, the co-founder of ‘Connecting Wives’ told Nation Next: “We wanted to give the online members of our group an offline opportunity to look and buy products as per their convenience. The whole idea behind conducting ‘The CW Show’ was to connect our members across India.”
Several Nagpurians gathered at Chitnavis centre to witness the show and buy from the exhibition. Expressing her happiness over the overwhelming response, co-founder, Connecting Wives, Soraiya Taneja said, “We didn’t expect such a good response. We have stalls not only from Nagpur but also from cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Kolkata. It’s good to see that even comparatively costly items are being well appreciated and bought by many Nagpur women. This is proof enough that Nagpurians are well versed with the quality of the products and they can make smart choices”. Priyam added, “There are a range of items available at our show at high and low prices. So, there’s something every visitor can buy irrespective of her financial capability. Nobody will leave ‘The CW show’, empty handed!”
