A day after he was detained by Delhi police for protesting against Kejriwal Government at Rajghat, MP Manoj Tiwari has been replaced by former North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Adesh Kumar Gupta as Delhi BJP president on June 2.

Actor-turned-politician Tiwari had won in 2014 elections as a BJP candidate and was appointed as Delhi BJP president in 2016. Since the party’s disastrous performance in Delhi Assembly Elections 2020, Tiwari was said to be on borrowed time till an alternative was found. As per reports, Tiwari had offered to resign immediately after the party’s defeat.

Apart from protesting against Kejriwal government on June 1, Tiwari was recently in controversy after violating lockdown norms to play cricket in Haryana.
