As per police, a 16-year-old girl, studying at Dehradun boarding school, was allegedly gang-raped by four seniors (aged 17) last month on August 14. Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (USCPCR chairperson Usha Negi told The Times of India that medicated drinks were given to the girl by the administrator and his wife to terminate the pregnancy. She further stated that school officials also took the rape survivor to a nursing home for an abortion.

However, apart from the four accused, the boarding school’s director, principal, administration officer, his wife and hostel’s caretaker were also arrested for alleged destruction of evidence. The horrific incident came to light after Nivedita Kureti Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) was tipped-off about the alleged raped and hence ordered an investigation on the same. Rathod further said the arrested school officials were aware of the entire incident.

Station house officer Naresh Rathod said, “The incident happened on August 14. Four boys studying in the same residential school raped the 16-year-old. Nivedita Kureti got a tip-off about the incident and ordered us to investigate the matter. The charges were found to be true.”
