In what can be said as one of the biggest narcotics haul in Delhi, the special cell of Delhi Police busted a narcotics drug haul on Friday and seized 150 kgs of heroin worth Rs 600 crore in international market. Out of the five person arrested by the police, two are chemical experts hailing from Afghanistan.

As per the police, the accused were trying to set up a full-fledged re-constitutional factory in Delhi. The modus operandi used by the accused to smuggle heroin involved soaking of jute bags, meant for carrying cumin and other household spices from Afghanistan to India, in a heroin-laden solution.

Manisha Chandra, DCP, Special Cell, said, ” Every empty jute bag actually concealed a dried solution of heroin in its fibers. Once the spices were removed, each jute bag would yield one kilogram of heroin. These jute bags are processed and made into high quality Afghan heroin.”

Apart from heroin, the police also seized four cars, two semi-automatic pistols and twenty live cartridges.
