Chopper with CM Devendra Fadnavis onboard crash-lands in Latur

A chopper with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis onboard, crash-landed in Latur today afternoon (May 25). Fadnavis, along with his team of six people (including two crew members), escaped unhurt.

Fadnavis after his safe landing informed people about the same by tweeting, “Our helicopter did meet with an accident in Latur but me and my team is absolutely safe and ok. Nothing to worry.”

The helicopter crashed due to a technical snag while taking off. Fadnavis, during an interaction with a leading daily, mentioned that there were four people in the chopper. He said, “With the blessings of the almighty and 11 crore people of Maharashtra, I have escaped unhurt, sans any injuries. I request everybody to keep blessing me like this. People needn’t worry. I’ll soon head to Mumbai (from Latur).”

Fadnavis, citing that a regular DGCA enquiry would soon happen in the incident, said, “The chopper was new; barely six to seven years old. It can be counted among the good helicopters. The DGCA will probe into the matter.”

The police revealed that Fadnavis earlier in May had to travel by road to Nagpur from naxal affected Gadchiroli as even then his chopper had developed a technical problem before taking off.
