Krishna Kumar Gupta first discovered the 200-year-old shivlinga across his home and subsequently he constructed a temple around it despite several obstacles. Since then the family has been celebrating the occasion every year with great zeal and grandeur. During the two-day festival, the Gupta brothers, who reside at Hill Road, observe the ritual of ‘rudrabhishek’ along with the distribution of mahaprasad.

Several prominent personalities like former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, former Guardian Minister of Nagpur Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Nagpur West MLA Vikas Thakre, former Congress minister Satish Chaturvedi, to name a few, also sought blessings from Lord Shiva.

Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary at Kalpana Prakash  Welfare  Foundation, who has been religiously attending the Mahashivratri celebrations at the Gupta residence since years now says he feels the celebrations are now a part of his yearly rituals. Shriwas, who’s been associated with various social works in the city said, “Given the devotion of Gupta family, I get extremely positive vibes; I never miss seeking blessings at their temple on Mahashivratri.  Also, I feel its quite inspiring the way the entire family comes together to celebrate the festival. They have so much love and happiness to share with their guests!”
