Differently-abled children, LAD College students slay fashion floor at SEZCC, Nagpur

Students of postgraduate department of fashion design at LAD College recently participated in a fashion show along with 12 differently-abled students of SVK Sanstha. The show was held at Orange City Craft Mela, which was organised by South Central Zone SCZCC in Nagpur. The fashion show began with the theme ‘Regional textile of India,’ which was presented by the finalist of Miss LAD contest.

All the students successfully represented every part of the country through their outfits. Girls were draped in various regional outfits – Bandhani, Paithani, Kantha, Phulkari, Kashmiri, South Indian, Silk or Cotton saris.

In one of the rounds, differently-abled students walked with the students of PG department of Fashion Design of LAD College. The differently-abled students wore sashes, which depicted their best qualities and abilities.

What made the evening even more special was when the audience gave a standing ovation while they got emotional towards the students.

While Sonal Trivedi Malkan conceptualised the fashion show, former Vice Principal of LAD College, Dr Harsha Jharia coordinated the show. Former LAD College students Payal Chanchalani and Ankita Chakrobarty trained the participants for the ramp walk. Director of SCZCC Dr Deepak Khirwadkar felicitated Dr Harsha Jharia and President of SVK Shikshan Sanstha Gayatri Vatsalya in the presence of Deputy Director SCZCC Mohan Parkhi.

SVK Shikshan Sanstha has been working with a mission to create a platform for people to encourage differently-abled people to showcase their talent. Apart from the fashion show, the cultural programmes and folk dances were also held where artistes from different regions of the country performed Gaddi Naati, Ghoomar and Saheriya Swang.
