It’s not everyday that you see a film director making his debut through a period film. Making a period film not only requires a lot of research and money but also a lot of passion for the subject. May be that’s why scripting and making the Marathi film Farzand came easy for debut director Digpal Lanjekar. The director, who hails from Pune, by his own confession, is passionate about history and he researched for nearly six years for making his debut film, which will release on June 1, 2018.

Farzand is a movie based on the warrior Kondaji Farzand, who along with 60 other warriors defeated 2500 soldiers of the enemy to win the Panhala fort in just three and half hours. The movie, produced by Swami Samarth Movies Creation LLP, stars Ankit Mohan, Mrinal Kulkarni, Chinmay Mandlekar, Prasad Oak and Mrunmayee Deshpande in important roles.
