Doctor sexually assaults male COVID-19 patient, sent to home quarantine

In a shocking incident, a 34-year-old doctor has been accused of sexually assaulting a 44-year-old male patient at the ICU of Mumbai’s Wockhardt Hospital on May 1.

While Agripada Police have booked the doctor, he has been sent to home quarantine for now as he was in direct contact with the COVID-19 patient. As per reports, it was the doctor’s first day of job at the hospital. The accused, who is an MD, had been recruited by Wockhardt Hospital on April 30.

Wockhardt Hospital, in a statement, has informed that following the complaint of the misconduct, the administration immediately contacted the police as per protocols and the doctor was sacked. After the hospital’s HR head filed a complaint against the doctor, the doctor was booked by the police under sections 377, 269 and 270 of the IPC.

The police will be questioning the doctor after his stipulated time of being in home quarantine is over.
