Driver rams bus into tree after brakes fail; saves 22 lives in Nagpur

    Driver Gajanan Gopalrao Bawankar (33) saved the lives of 22 passengers traveling in his bus yesterday afternoon from Yavatmal to Nagpur.

    In what could be termed as a great display of presence of mind, driver Gajanan Gopalrao Bawankar (33) saved the lives of 22 passengers traveling in his bus yesterday afternoon from Yavatmal to Nagpur.

    In order to prevent a terrible accident, Bawankar rammed the bus into a tree after he realised the brakes of the bus had failed while crossing Narendra Nagar railway over bridge. Bawankar, who’s a resident of Bhidi village in Wardha district, after identifying an open spot, asked his passengers to tightly hold their seats so that he could ram the bus into a tree.

    Post the incident, Beltarodi police reached the spot and immediately rushed the injured persons to hospital. The police also said that four passengers suffered minor injuries.
