Dushyant Chaturvedi, son of former Congress minister from Nagpur Satish Chaturvedi, joined the Shiv Sena at party chief Uddhav Thackeray’s residence ‘Matoshree’ in Mumbai. Dushyant, who joined the party on Sunday at 5 pm, is likely to be made the party in charge of the city.
It has been speculated that Dushyant might contest the state assembly elections from East or South Nagpur. Just when reports of Dushyant joining the party were doing the rounds, it was also rumoured in political circuits that his father, who served as a Congress loyalist for 40 years, would also join the Shiv Sena soon.
Former MLA from East Nagpur, Satish Chaturvedi was a minister in the Congress-NCP government. He was expelled from the party in 2018 for allegedly encouraging rebel candidates during the 2017 municipal elections in Nagpur.
