Well-known music producer and Swedish DJ Avicii passed away at the age of 28 on Friday. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman in the afternoon as per local time.
A statement released by the representative of the late EDM star said, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, 20 April. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
A pioneer of the contemporary Electronic Dance Music (EDM), the Swedish DJ, gained international recognition in 2011 when he released his progressive house track ‘Levels,’ which not only topped the charts in Sweden but also the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. He won the MTV Music award two times and was also nominated for Grammy awards twice. Apart from Levels, his other famous hits include ‘Wake me up,’ The days,’ and ‘You make me.’
Avicii, some days back, was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for top Dance/Electronic album for ‘Avicii (01)’ alongside other EDM stars – The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris and Kygo.
