As COVID-19 positive cases in India continue to rise, a picture (morphed as a screenshot from a news channel) has been doing the rounds on social media claiming that the Home Ministry will be imposing another lockdown from June 15. The picture also claims that a ban will be imposed on train and air transport.

However, PIB (Press Information Bureau) through the Twitter Handle – PIB Fact Check, which counters misinformation on government decisions and schemes, has clarified that the claims in the picture are untrue.

The post on the Twitter handle read:

“Claim: A photo being circulated on social media claims that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) may restrict the train and air services, and implement the complete lockdown from June 15.

PIB Fact Check – This is fake. Beware of such misleading photos spreading fake news.”

Lockdown 5.0, with some relaxations, was introduced after May 31. Ever since the relaxations were given, people across the country have been seen neglecting social media norms. This blatant disregard of norms is what made Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to say that lockdown will be imposed in the state if norms are not adhered to by citizens.
