BENGALURU: Karnataka assembly speaker KR Ramesh Kumar today compared himself to a rape victim who has to recount her traumatic experience by repeatedly answering questions in a court of law. Kumar said the same in reference to the repeated charges leveled against him for being a part of the controversial audiotapes. However, the government constituted an SIT on the audiotape controversy.

Kumar said the same when BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa in the audiotape was indulged in a supposed conversation to lure a JD (S) MLA in his alleged attempt to topple the Congress-JD (S) government.

Kumar said, “If someone asks the rape victim as to what has happened, she says the rape may have happened once but the questions in court raped me 100 times. I’m in a similar situation like hers.”

While the men in the House laughed at the comments, around 10 women legislators present chose not to react.
