Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee admitted to AIIMS

Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on Monday morning, was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on Monday morning, was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The 93-year-old veteran politician was admitted for a routine check-up on the advice of his doctors, who have said that he’s perfectly okay. Even Bharatiya Janata Party has released a statement saying that Vajpayee is alright.

Vajpayee, while at AIIMS, will be under the medical supervision of Dr Randeep Guleria, a pulmonologist and the current director of AIIMS. Dr Guleria has served as a personal physician to Vajpayee for over three decades.

Atal Bihar Vajpayee, who was born in 1924, is the oldest living former Prime Minister of India. He became the PM of India for the first time in 1996 in a government, which ruled for just 13 days. Vajpayee became the PM again in 1998, after which he became the first non-Congress politician to serve a full five-year term in PM’s office. A veteran and respected politician, Vajpayee, who has been elected to Lok Sabha ten times and to Rajya Sabha two times, was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 2015.
