Four men accused of gang raping a 20-year-old college student were paraded on the streets in Bhopal on Sunday by MP police even was they were beaten by the women onlookers. The accused were arrested on Sunday morning when the girl lodged a complaint with the Maharana Pratap Nagar police station.
As per the police, Shailendra Dangi, who is a senior of the girl in the college met her in a restaurant on Saturday. After fighting with her over an issue, Shailendra snatched her phone and took her to his friend Sonu Dangi’s room near Apsara Cinema. Sonu was already accompanied by his friends Dhiraj Rajput and Chiman Rajput in the room. Shailendra and Dhiraj then threatened the girl that they will kill her and her parents and then raped her. Sonu and Chiman helped the duo. The accused then told the girl not to talk about the incident to anybody.
All the four accused have been booked under sections 376 (rape), 376 (d) (gang rape) and 365 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
This is not the first time that the Madhya Pradesh police has paraded the culprits. In the recent times, MP police has taken to parading to punish eve-teasers and sexual offenders.
