In what can be termed as heartbreaking, Indian actress Geeta Kapoor, who played the role of Raaj Kumar’s second wife in 1972 classic movie Pakeezah, was abandoned by her son in a hospital in Mumbai. As per reports, Geeta’s son Raja Kapoor admitted her to SRV private hospital in Goregaon, Mumbai on April 21. Raja then under the pretext of withdrawing money from the ATM fled the hospital and abandoned his mother.
The hospital continued to treat Geeta as her condition was poor and tried to contact Raja and Geeta’s daughter Pooja several times. When the hospital finally managed to contact Raja, he promised to come back but never returned. Pooja, who works as a flight attendant in Pune, too hung up the phone saying ‘wrong number.’ As per reports, after Raja abandoned his mother, he packed his bags and left their house too.
Meanwhile, filmmaker and member of CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) Ashoke Pandit has come to Geeta’s rescue. When he got to know about Geeta, he approached the hospital and paid the hospital bills and also ensured she keeps getting the treatment. Pandit said that paying the hospital bills is not a big thing as he sees his mother in Geeta.
Geeta, speaking about the torture she went through, said, “Raja had been planning to abandon me for days. He used to hit me as I never approved of his philandering ways. He fed me once in four days, and sometimes used to lock me up for several days. As I was not ready to go to an old age home, he planned all this to get rid of me. He deliberately kept me hungry, so that I fall sick. When he got a chance, he got me admitted and fled.”
It is now being said that the hospital has approached the police, who intend to take a legal action against Geeta’s son Raja.
