Fast investigation by Panchpaoli Police in a kidnapping and assault case saved the life of Parmanand Talreja, a bar owner, on Monday in Nagpur. Talreja was standing in front of his bar on Sunday night when four men – Ajay Chinchkhede (21), Monu Samudre (19), Saurabh Taywade (20) and Aakash Nagulkar (26) – came to the bar to buy liquor. The men wanted to buy liquor at a discounted price. When Talreja refused to give them liquor, the men thrashed him.
When Shamshuddin Khan, the owner of the pan kiosk in front of the bar, tried to help Talreja, he was attacked with a sword on his head. The men then kidnapped Talreja and took him with them to a ground at Balabhaupeth and left him to die there.
Panchpaoli Police swung into action as soon as it was informed about the incident. In just a matter of few hours, the police tracked down the four culprits and nabbed them. The men then took the police to the ground where they left Talreja. The bar owner was bleeding and unconscious when the police found him. Talreja, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, is in stable condition now.
Notably, the four men already have previous criminal records. While Chinchkede has reportedly served a two-year jail term previously under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (MPDA), the other three accused also have serious charges against them. On the complaint of the bar owner’s son Pratik Talreja, Panchpaoli Police has registered a case against the four men and booked them under various sections of the IPC and other relevant sections of different acts.
