As per the directives of Gujarat government, school students in Gujarat would now mark their attendance with ‘Jai Hind, Jai Bharat’ instead of ‘Yes Sir’ from January 1. In a review meeting held on Monday, state Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama took the decision to ‘foster patriotism right since childhood.’

The Directorate of Primary Education and Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) issued the notification, which stated that all students from class 1-12 in government, grant-in-aid and self-financed schools would now have to follow the state government’s directive.
