Nagpur’s Gurmeet Vij elected as the managing committee member of TAAI

Nagpur businessman Gurmeet Vij has been elected as one of the managing committee members of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) for the term 2017-2019. Vij secured 301 votes. The new committee was chosen at the 66th AGM of TAAI on November 28 at The Lalit in Mumbai. Apart from Vij, the new managing committee of TAAI includes Bhagwan Ramnani (345 votes), S Saravanan (345 votes), Rajan Sehgal (322 votes), Anoop Kanuga (296 votes), Devaki Thiyagarajan (286 votes) and Anil Kumar (285 votes).

Sunil Kumar, who secured 275 votes, was elected as the president of TAAI for the consecutive third term. Sunil’s contenders Marzban Antia and Harmandeep Singh Anand (from Nagpur) secured 171 and 162 votes respectively. Sanjay Narula, Jyoti Mayal and Imtiaz Qureshi have been elected as vice president, honorary secretary and treasurer respectively for 2017-2019.

Speaking to Nation Next, an elated Gurmeet, who’s the proprietor of Nova Travels, said, “I’m really happy and looking forward to do lot of events. My main focus would be to give back to the city of Nagpur as this city as given so much to me.” Speaking further about the work, which he intends to do for Nagpur, Gurmeet added, “There are very few in international flights from Nagpur as compared to other cities. I’ll raise this issue. Also, there are a lot of tourism spots around Nagpur, which can have a lot of inflow of tourists. I will try to work towards boosting the tourism in the region.”
