Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru. BJP leader BS Yeddrurappa, who served as the chief minister for a little over two days resigned ahead of the floor test, which was conduced for the BJP leader to prove majority in the state assembly.

Political bigwigs including UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, etc were also present during the swearing-in ceremony.

While former minister Ramesh Kumar was appointed as the next assembly speaker, Karnataka Congress President G Parameshwara was appointed as the deputy chief minister of the state.
