Infamous Indian businessmen and fugitives Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya may be lodged in the same barrack at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai, if both of them are extradited to India. As per news agency PTI, Modi and Mallya will both be lodged in Barrack no 12 if they are brought back to the country.
A prison official told PTI that as per norms, a maximum of three prisoners can be lodged in a room and that the room in Barrack no 12 is currently vacant. The official said that if Mallya and Modi are extradited to India, they will be lodged in same room. The room’s area is 20 feet by 15 feet and it is equipped with three fans, six tube lights and two windows.
While Nirav Modi is currently in a London Jail in connection with a $2 billion PNB fraud in India, Mallya, who’s currently out on bail, is wanted in the country on charges of fraud and money laundering to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore. India has been trying hard to bring back Modi and Mallya back to the country.
