The second batch of the Indian Institute of Management at Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) has recorded 100% placement for its second batch. All the 54 students who enrolled in the Post Graduate Program (PGP) for 2016-18 have been placed in different companies. While the highest package offered was Rs 19 lakh per annum, the average package stood at Rs 12.05 lakh.
The placement drive conducted for IIM Nagpur students at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) consisted of more than 40 recruiters from the fields of banking finance, IT Consulting, FMCG, Logistics, BFSI, Media and other industries. More than 70% of the placements came from IT industry followed by BFSI, FMCG and other areas.
Prof LS Murthy, Director, IIM Nagpur, through a press release stated, “We, at IIM Nagpur, are very happy that this year our corporate connect has improved over last year in many ways, including the number of senior executives who interacted with our students, and the number of companies that participated in our placement processes.” As per the press release, while the average package offered for the top quartile of the batch stood at Rs 16.08 lakh, the median package for the same group was Rs 15.40 lakh. The median of top quartile increased by 14% and job offers in IT sector increased by 28 % as compared to last year. Among the students, marketing, consulting and analytics were the most sought after roles, closely followed by finance and operations.
Notably, IIM Nagpur did not record a 100% placement for its first batch of (2015-2017). Out of 53 students, only 38 got jobs through the placement drive even though the highest package offered was Rs 21 lakh.
IIM Nagpur was started in the year 2015, along with five other IIMs, by the HRD Ministry and is mentored by IIM Ahmedabad.
