Under Modi’s regime, India has become second largest beef exporter in world: Ramalinga Reddy on cow slaughter ban

Karnataka minister from Congress Ramalinga Reddy said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s regime, India has become the second largest beef exporter in the world after Brazil. Reddy, criticising the ‘double standards’ of the Modi government on cow slaughter ban, said the country’s beef export was flourishing under the Modi regime.

Reacting to BJP president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s recent statement of banning cow slaughter after coming to power, the Karnataka minister said that killing of any animal wasn’t fair.

As per an article on Firstpost, the Karnataka home minister said, “The BJP says that they will ban cow slaughter if they come to power in Karnataka, while our country exports cow meat, beef to other countries. It has been four years since they came to power, why have they not stopped these exports? If they have real love for cows, they will have to first stop the exports.”

Reddy revealed that India earned Rs 26,682 crores from beef exports during 2015-16. As told to Firstpost, Reddy said, “Does this mean for Rs 26,000 crore, the BJP is exporting beef and not banning it? If their sentiments about the cow is true, let them stop it.”
