As per a report in Economic Times, a highly placed official said it was decided that the revenge in the form of Surgical Strike would be taken on the 13th day of Pulwama attack to pay ‘best homage’ to the 44 CRPF jawans who lost their lives.
The air strike that was successfully completed in 21 minutes involved over 200 hours of planning that began following intelligence inputs regarding a second suicide terror strike somewhere in India. According to sources, the intelligence input had warned of another suicide terror attack, which could be bigger than Pulwama anywhere in India.
As a result, multiple high-level meetings were held that included top government officials, ministers, Army and Navy chiefs, IAF and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. PM Narendra Modi along with Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Ajit Doval and IAF chief Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, took the final decision to conduct an air strike in Pakistan.
Indian Air Force (IAF) destroyed the joint training camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed and LeT inside Pakistan with 1,000 kg bombs on Tuesday morning. Crossing the Line of Actual Control (LoC), and entire Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the jets hit the terror camps in Balakot. Around16 Sukhoi jets backed the 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets for the surgical strike that destroyed the terror camps.
