The International Court of Justice stayed the execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav today on May 18, 2017. The court also upheld India’s right to consular access to Jadhav. Judge Ronny Abraham, President of the court, said, “Pakistan shouldn’t execute Jadhav till proceedings are on in this court.”

Kulbhushan Jadhav was arrested last year in March when Pakistani officials claimed that Jadhav had confessed to spying for Indian intelligence agency – Research Analysis and Wing (RAW). It was then that India had appealed against Jadhav’s death sentence when he was sentenced to death last month.
