Indian Railways to provide foot, head massage services to passengers onboard

Indian Railways for the first time ever would soon be offering massage services for its passengers onboard running train. The services would be made available in 39 trains that would depart from Indore. The services would commence in 15-20 days

The massage services would be charged at Rs 100 each for foot and head massage. However, the services wouldn’t be available from 10 pm to 6 am. An officer in the railways said that Ratlam division of Western railway zone had made the proposal.

Malwa Express, Humsafar Express, Mahamana Express and Shipra Express among others would be the ones among the 39 trains, in which the above service would be provided.

As per a report in NDTV, Rajesh Bajpai, director, media and communication, railway board said, “This is the first time in history of railways that we will provide massaging service for passenger comfort on running trains. It will not only increase revenue but also add passengers. Railways will earn additional revenue of Rs.20 lakh annually and an estimated increase of Rs. 90 lakh per year through additional sale of tickets from about 20,000 passengers who will avail the services. This is the first time that such a contract has been signed.”
