Indrani Mukerjea, a co-accused in the INX Media case, who had told investigators about former finance minister P Chidambaram’s and his son, Karti’s involvement in the money laundering and corruption case said the arrest of Chidambaram, was ‘good news.’ She also said that the leader’s son Karti’s pre-arrest bail is also refused soon.
“It’s good news that P Chidambaram has been arrested. I’m watching all the developments,” Mukerjea, who’s in Mumbai jail with husband Peter for the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, told reporters present in a Mumbai court. Mukerjea, who had turned to be an approver in the case in July, had reportedly revealed details of her meeting with the senior Congress leader and her son. It was also reported that the case against the senior leader was been built on Mukerjeas’ statements.
CBI accused Chidambaram of facilitating foreign funds worth Rs 305 crore into the media company INX Media owned by Indrani Mukerjea and Peter in 2007, when he was Finance Minister at son’s request, who allegedly received kickbacks for his role.
