Inspired by Vicky Kaushal starrer film Uri, New York based 26-year-old NRI Vivek Patel managed to raise donations of over six crores in mere six days for the families of the martyred soldiers in the Pulwama attack.

Vivek, who’s a graduate from Stevens Institute of Technology, hails from Vadodara (Gujarat). After he tried donating funds through Bharat Ke Veer (a government website specially designed for collecting donations post Pulwama attack for martyred soldiers’ families), he realised the website didn’t accept international cards. In fact, the website would crash often, due to very heavy traffic.

Finally Vivek decided to start his own fundraiser on Facebook with a target of collecting around $5,00,000 (around three crores). Vivek in six days with the help of 22,456 people raised $8,58,924 (more than six crores).

Just to ensure the collected amount is handed over to the concerned person to distribute it among the families of the martyred soldiers, Vivek also tagged PM Narendra Modi, Akshay Kumar, Sushma Swaraj, the Indian Army, etc in his post on twitter.
