Thousands of Yoga enthusiasts gathered together on June 21 to celebrate the 4th International Yoga Day at the session ‘Yoga by the Bay’ at Marine Drive in Mumbai. The grand yoga session was organised 4th year in a row by politician and fashion designer Shaina NC and her father Nana Chudasama’s NGO I Love Mumbai and Giants Welfare Foundation in association with Heartfullness Meditation. The session was conducted by holistic health guru Dr Mickey Mehta and his team of 150+ expert yoga trainers.
Apart from Shaina NC, also present at the session was Union Minister Prakash Javdekar, who termed Yoga by the Bay as ‘Mumbai’s Yoga Jabardast Yoga!’ Javdekar also informed that International Yoga Day was being celebrated in 190 countries worldwide. Shaina, who founded I Love Mumbai with an intention to bring Mumbaikars together on any social platform for a better city, said, “Love yourself and also love your city with all your heart, and you will find ways to keep it clean and green. And Yoga is the best way to have a sound mind in a sound body.” Shaina is also the World Chairperson of Giants Welfare Foundation, an NGO, which is doing humongous social service across India and other parts of the world.
It was on June 2015, that Shaina’s organizations first organised ‘Yoga by the Bay’ at Marine Drive. It was the first ever International Yoga Day. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who aims at propagating, promoting and practicing this invaluable ancient Indian discipline, yoga sessions have since become a regular practice at the picturesque Marine Drive on the last Sunday of every month with people from all walks of life joining the session.
