Launching a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh today (May 26) criticised Modi’s ‘dictatorial tendencies.’ Drawing a comparison between LK Advani and Modi, Ramesh said that even Advani seems to be better and tolerant.
Panning Modi further, the Congress leader during an event in Pune to ‘expose’ Modi govt.’s three years in power, said, “The Congress was out of power but bounced back after eight years in 2004. At the time, we had an honourable opponent in Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Modi’s philosophy of ‘Mera Bhashan, Mera Shashan’ (my speech, my rule), doesn’t tolerate any dissent, either on part of the Opposition or even within members of his own party.”
Ramesh quipped, “There seemed to be no checks and balances on Modi’s unrestrained style of functioning. Even BJP stalwart like LK Advani appeared better and more tolerant.”
Tagging Modi as an expert in repackaging and rebranding, Ramesh said that Modi had cleverly usurped the schemes initiated by the Congress. He renamed them, claiming them as his own brainchild.”
