Former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia finally joined the BJP on Wednesday afternoon after months of internal conflict with the Congress. It has been speculated that Scindia might be immediately given a Rajya Sabha ticket and get inducted into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Union Cabinet.

Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Scindia, in the presence of BJP chief JP Nadda, told reporters, “Today the Congress isn’t the same old party it used to be earlier.”

Scindia, who quit the Congress at 6 pm on Tuesday, was said to be upset with his marginalisation in the affairs of the Madhya Pradesh government. It has been said that the BJP might stake claim to form the government in Madhya Pradesh.
