Four-time Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh Jyotiraditya Scindia is being considered as the first preference for the position of the new parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha. Mallikarjun Kharge, who was the erstwhile party leader for the same, would be accommodated in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). As per the report by a leading daily, senior Congress leader Kamal Nath was the second choice after Scindia.

However, in a quest to empower and induct young leaders in the party, Congress is ensuring the senior leaders don’t fill major posts. Congress has been implementing various structural and organisational changes to stay in the game and eventually give a tough competition to the BJP in the near future.

The party similarly plans to induct young faces in primary roles for the upcoming civic body elections in Uttar Pradesh too. Party president of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Raj Babbar, former MP Vivek Bansal, former MP from Varanasi, Rajesh Mishra, sitting MLA from Rampur Khas Aradhna Mishra and former MLA from Muzaffarnagar Pankaj Mallik, etc., were present during the party meeting. The primary reason behind the meeting was to form a new line of leadership in the Congress party.
