When 23-year-old actress Pratyusha Banerjee committed suicide on April 1, 2016, it sent shockwaves throughout Indian entertainment Industry. While the tragic suicide led to the arrest of Pratyusha’s alleged boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, it devastated her family and close friends. On Pratyusha’s first death anniversary (April 1, 2017), her best friend and television actress Kamya Punjabi is all set to give a mournful tribute to Pratyusha through a short film – ‘Hum Kuchh Keh Naa Sakey’. Kamya released the promo of the film on YouTube today and believe it or not, Pratyusha herself is seen in the promo!
This short film, which was shot a month and half before Pratyusha’s untimely death, is apparently her last project and the role played by the late actress seems quite similar to what she faced in her last days. In the promo, a miserable and depressed Pratyusha can be seen in a heated conversation with her boyfriend. Pratyusha in the promo cries in despair and is seen screaming out of restlessness “Mujhe bhi ladna accha nahi lagta Rahul.” Towards the end of the trailer, Banerjee is seen, sitting down emotionless on the sofa saying, “Lekin aaj tum gaye, toh phir kabhi mujhe dekh nahi paaoge”, referring to her committing suicide.
The guy in the film is named Rahul much like her off-screen lover Rahul Raj Singh. Kamya told a media house that Pratyusha’s untimely death was the reason they couldn’t shoot the climax. She even said, “I wish we had spoken about her problems. I felt helpless watching the film.”
In a chat with Nation Next, Kamya informed that the 10-minute short film has been produced by Nikhat Neerusha and the entire proceeds from the movie will be handed over to Pratyusha’s parents.
Kamya took her Twitter account today and posted, “Miss you my chhotu…. #PratyushaBanerjee #1stapril @NNeerushaa thank you ?”
