BJP leader from Varanasi Kanhaiya Lal Mishra was arrested for allegedly raping a 32-year-old woman in a lodge on Tuesday.

BJP leader from Varanasi Kanhaiya Lal Mishra was arrested for allegedly raping a 32-year-old woman on Tuesday. Mishra, who’s the former president of BJP’s Bhadohi district, allegedly raped her at a lodge Englishia Line.

Police said the woman alleged that Mishra on the pretext of providing her a job, promised her to set up a meeting with a woman government officer. The victim said that as Mishra entered the room in the lodge, he sexually assaulted her. She said that she was in touch with Mishra on phone for a couple of months and that’s why she agreed to meet Mishra. The BJP leader, who’s in his early 50s, has been arrested udner relevant sections of the IPC.

A police officer as per certain reports said, “She resisted and raised an alarm which drew other guests at the lodge to outside Mishra’s room. She dialed the emergency police response system and the others informed Sigra police.”
