Believe it or not, but most people in Kanjasa village, Uttar Pradesh, as per their Aadhaar cards, have January 1 as their date of birth. No, it is not a co-incidence that these villagers share their date of birth, it is in fact an error. The mistake came to light when teachers of a local government primary school went to register the Aadhaar card number of students, as asked by the Uttar Pradesh government to track school going children. What’s even more amusing is the fact that the villagers did not notice the wrong date of birth on their respective Aadhaar cards till it was brought to their notice.
Kanjasa, which has a population of around 10,000 people, is situated in the Jasra block of Gurpur in Allahabad. Three-four years back, the procedure of registration of Aadhaar cards started at the village. However, it was after a long wait that the villagers got their respective cards. The people of Kanjasa are now feeling cheated.
