BJP MP Smriti Irani, while commenting upon Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s midnight vigil on Friday said that the latter is compelled to take a stand in the recent Kathua rape and murder case.

Irani as per ANI, speaking about the candle light march, which the Congress President took on Friday night, said, “Rahul Gandhi earlier stood in support of Gayatri Prasad Prajapati. It’s just his compulsion to take a stand this time but Amethi knows the truth. I have faith that justice will be provided.”

Irani also targeted Gandhi by accusing him of ‘politicising’ rapes in Unnao and Kathua. She said that earlier Gandhi had supported rape accused Gayatri Prasad Prajapati.

Meanwhile, Gandhi during the vigil, as per a report in NDTV, said, “This is about our women. Thousands are present here including the common people and people from all parties. This situation is such today that one after another incident of murder, rape and violence is taking place in various parts of the country. We are standing here against that and we want the government to act.”
