Nagpur gangster Vijay Mohod (27), who was kidnapped on Sunday evening from an eatery in Hudkeshwar, was found dead on Monday morning in Velahari village near the city.
As per police, on Sunday evening, Vijay’s cousin Devidas Mohod received a call from Vijay’s friend Rupesh Bonde, who had gone along with Vijay and another friend Chandrashekhar Vaidya at Amit Saoji Restaurant (in Hudkeshwar area) in Vijay’s four-wheeler. Bonde informed that while at the restaurant, some unidentified people approached them, kidnapped Vijay and took him along in a four-wheeler. Devidas quickly lodged a complaint with Hudkeshwar police and a search operation was launched to find Vijay.
However, on Monday morning, Hudkeshwar Police received a call about a dead body found at Velahari. As the police reach the spot, the body was identified as that of Vijay Mohod. PI Sandeep Bhosle at Hudkeshwar Police Station informed Nation Next that the body has been sent to Government Medical College for post mortem.
While the police are still investigating the case, the murder of Vijay Mohod appears to be a result of a gang rivalry over supremacy. For the uninitiated, in 2016, Vijay was accused of murder of his wife’s paramour. In 2019, he was also accused of kidnapping another Nagpur gangster Maroti Nuwa.
