In a horrific incident, a 55-year-old man, threw two children off the fourth floor of a building on June 14 over dispute with the children’s family member. The incident, which took place at Kolkata’s Burrabazar area, has resulted in the death of a two-year-old boy while the six-year-old old boy is being treated at the hospital.

While the accused has been identified as Shiv Kumar Gupta, the victims have been identified as Shivan Shaw (2) and Vishal Shaw (6). After the incident, residents in the area spotted the two-year-old boy lying in a pool of blood on the road and the six-year-old on the tin shed of a store with his neck entangled in wire cables. The kids were immediately rushed to the hospital, where Shivam was declared brought dead.

It is being reported that Gupta, who is a hardware trader, had a tiff with the Shivam’s grandfather Budhan Shaw, a day earlier, over children playing in the common area of the building. Both men live in the same building. On June 14, when the kids were playing, Gupta threw them off the building in a fit of rage.

The police are also investigating another angle of property feud. Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Murlidhar Sharma told a daily, “Given that two children Gupta targeted are from the same family, the business angle cannot be ruled out. We have come to know that Gupta and Budhan had a major argument and Gupta had threatened him to teach a lesson.”
