Kotwali Police books man for sending vulgar messages to a girl on Facebook

Nagpur’s Kotwali Police, on Wednesday, booked a man for outraging the modesty of a girl by sending her vulgar messages on social media.

In June 2017, the accused Shrirang Mohite (26), a resident of Rajgad, Madhya Pradesh, approached the 25-year-old victim on Facebook. The two interacted and exchanged numbers. After this, Mohite from June 2017 to till May 2018 sent a lot of vulgar messages on Facebook and Whatsapp. Mohite also abused the victim’s family and threatened to kill them. In addition to this, Mohite threatened the girl to upload her pictures on social media to defame her.

When the girl couldn’t take it anymore, she approached the Kotwali Police and lodged a complaint against Mohite. The police has booked Mohite under sections 354 (D) (2), 506 (2) and 504 of the Indian Penal Code.
