LAD college’s fashion and cultural show organised at the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Civil Lines, Nagpur, on December 9, 2016 was a visual treat for people present.

The show started with a bang amidst a lot of noise and cheer from the audience. And LAD girls (from Department of Fashion Design) totally justified the cheer as they walked the ramp draped in handloom and khadi sarees in different styles on old and new songs. The showstopper of the show was the faculty member Swati Banerjee who was adjudged as the 1st runner-up of Mrs Maharashtra 2016 held in Pune this October. Students and teachers of LAD college also put up fantastic performances in between the fashion sequences. These performances depicted the culture and rituals of Maharashtra from the past and of the present. Apart from depicting Maharashtrian culture and rituals like Gondhal, Powada, Lawani, etc., students also raise the issue of the growing farmer suicides in India through a ‘Shetkari’ dance. The whole show was co-ordinated by the teachers of LAD college – Maya Meshram, Ratnaprabha Lanjewar and Ahinsa Tirpude and was hosted by Sonal Trivedi.

While the outfits worn by LAD girls who walked the ramp were sponsored by Indrayani State Handloom Corporation Ltd, Sneha Dhobley (owner, Lakme Salon, Ramdaspeth) and her staff took care of the makeup of the girls. Nagpur fashion designer Nidhi Gandhi was the stylist for the show and Vice principal and HOD of LAD College – Harsha Jharia was the principal coordinator of the show. Volunteers from Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VEDC) were also seen helping out the organisers to carry out the show smoothly.
