After the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) disallowed the opening of liquor shops in the city on Sunday, District Collector Ravindra Thakare later said liquor shops would be re-opened in Nagpur rural. While pan and tobacco shops will remain closed, liquor shops would remain open from 10 am to 6 pm, which would allow only five people at a time in rural areas. Some of the rural areas include Ramtek, Saoner, Kamptee, Hingna, Wadi, Kalmeshwar, Koradi, etc.
While Nagpur city has been tagged as a Red Zone, rural areas have been identified as Orange Zone. As per Maharashtra government’s revised notification, only stand-alone five non-essential shops should be re-opened in a single lane.
