Maharashtra education Minister Vinod Tawde during the first week of Maharashtra Legislature winter session 2016 praised the teachers in Zila Parishad schools because of whom thousands of students from English medium schools have enrolled themselves at Marathi medium ZP schools. Tawde said, “This year in Marathi medium Zila Parishad schools, 14,000 students from English medium schools have enrolled themselves. It is because in many Zila Parishad schools, initiatives like activity based learning, spoken English, etc., have been undertaken by the teachers. When I informed the house about it, both the houses praised these teachers and the good work they’re doing. I think this is first time ever that the work of these teachers has been noticed and appreciated. State government will try even more hard to ensure that more number of students enroll in Marathi medium institutions as Marathi is our mother tongue.”
