Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ravindra Chavan, on Friday, announced that from August 1, movie goers will be able to carry outside food in multiplexes. While announcing the state government’s decision, Chavan also warned of strict action against multiplexes not following the government’s directive.

Chavan informed of the government’s decision while responding to a query raised by NCP MLC Dhananjay Munde in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The NCP MLC also raised the issue of food items and beverages being sold over MRP at multiplexes to which Chavan replied that there cannot be two different prices for the same product. The government is expected to bring in a policy and ask multiplexes to sell products at MRP.
