In a major decision, Maharashtra government has decided to conduct exams for only final year students this year and decided to promote others.
The decision, which was announced by Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant, has been made against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. Samant informed that examinations for final year students will be held in the month of July as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The government will again take stock of the situation on June 20.
Based on the decision, while final year students at Maharashtra universities will have to appear for exams, all other students will be promoted to the next year based on the basis of their performance. This performance will include 50% performance of the previous year and 50% performance of the current year.
Promoted students, who won’t be satisfied with their grades, will be given a chance to improve their grade later. Students with ATKTs (Allowed to keeo term) will also be promoted but they will have to clear papers within 120 days of new term.
