In a major breakthrough, security forces including CRPF, Indian Army and the police, on Thursday morning (May 28), averted a major attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Aayangund area of Rajpora in Pulwama. The attack was averted as security forces detected and destroyed a vehicle fitted with IED. A similar attack had taken place in 2019 in Pulwama, during which 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives.
As per reports, on May 27, security forces got received reliable information that a terrorist was travelling with an explosive-laden Santro car. Vijay Kumar, IG, J&K, said that the car with fake registration number was signaled to stop at a checkpoint but the vehicle driver, who is suspected to be a terrorist accelerated and tried to escape with the vehicle.
The security forces then opened fire after which the driver managed to escape in the darkness, leaving the car behind. The car was later destroyed in a controlled detonation by BDDS team. It is being reported that car was carrying 40-45 kgs of IED.
