Man booked for trying to extort Rs 1 lakh from Krishnum Restaurant owner

Nagpur’s Dhantoli Police have booked a man for trying to extort Rs 1 lakh from the owner of Krishnum Restaurant situated near Sai Mandir on Wardha Road.

Nagpur’s Dhantoli Police have booked a man named Sumit Shukla, a resident of Seminary Hills, for trying to extort Rs 1 lakh from Ajay Agrawal (29), the owner of Krishnum Restaurant situated near Sai Mandir on Wardha Road.

As per the police, Shukla had gone to the restaurant on Saturday (July 13) at around 5:30 pm. After he ordered something, he started creating ruckus at the restaurant claiming that he had found a house fly in his food. He then abused and threatened the cook in presence of restaurant manager Rakesh Shrivastava.

Shukla then had a telephonic conversation with Shrivastava during the course of which, Shukla asked Shrivastava to tell Agrawal to meet him and pay Rs 1 lakh to bury the matter. Shukla threatened to spoil the restaurant’s image through social media.

Dhantoli Police, on the basis on a complaint filed by Agrawal, have booked Shukla under sections 385 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
