Man commits suicide driven by the fear of contracting coronavirus

Driven by the fear of contracting Coronavirus, a 40-year-old man committed suicide on Friday (April 3) in Karnataka.

The deceased, who has been identified as Gurusangappa Jangannavarwas, was a coolie at Mangaluru and a native of Hirenandihaal village of Kushtagi Taluka. He was staying at his wife’s hometown in Kalliganurvillage, Karnataka.

As per the police, Gurusangappa had come back from Mangaluru a couple of weeks back and felt sick after his return. He went to a government-run hospital for a check up and was given medicines.

Depressed by the thought that he may become infected by coronavirus, he decided to end his life by hanging himself in the fields.
